Escobar in Wakefield was the next stop for the Red Stripe Music Award, somewhere I had always heard of but never been. The venue, used by many up and coming bands like The Cribs and The Arctic Monkeys to start their careers, was no let down as 4 great bands lined up for this incredible event. The Bundesrats started the night off with their Faith No More meets the Editors sound, fantastic presence and great bass hooks that really interested the growing crowd.
The well styled and musically brilliant Kolorado Rock Machine was next to get things going. They had the catchy tunes, great lyrics and definitely looked the part for an awesome gig.
The Labels then got heads banding through indie punk songs and an arrogant attitude which left one band to finish the night, New Vinyl, as quoted ‘Wakefield’s best.’ The crowd was huge and they seemed effortless with their performance which gave them undeniable presence. Escobar was a great venue and to all those who went to the gig, a rock star night!
