AT THE HOOTENANNY IN BRIXTON, 3 BANDS GRACED THE STAGE FOR THE RSMA GIG SERIES.

VICTOR MENACE ARE A MUSICALLY TALENTED BAND WITH A VERY ‘TIGHT’ SOUND. THEIR STYLE IS DIFFERENT AND TRADITIONAL, FOLK BASED WITH GREEK/ RUSSIAN SOUNDS.  VERY LIMITED SINGING BUT SOME GREAT MUSIC.
BIG HAND HAD A VERY DIFFERENT STYLE.  THESE GUYS WERE MORE OF A SKA BAND. THE LEAD SINGER WAS HARD TO HEAR SOMETIMES BUT THEY HAD GREAT SUPPORT AND EVEN THEIR OWN PRESS.  THEIR INTERACTION WITH CROWD WAS ALSO EXCELLENT.  GOOD CROWD PLEASERS.

LONDON SOULTRAIN ALSO PLAYED A BLINDING SET BUT DUE TO BEING A COVER BAND WERE NOT ELIGIBLE FOR THE COMPETITION - WRITE SOME STUFF GUYS!

Top Reggae, Funk, Soul, Blues, Ska bands play at Hootananny Brixton.
The spotlit stage, candles on the table, wooden floor boards, red and brown colours set the scene.
Jazz on Sunday nights and Scottish acoustic traditional music on Wednesday & Thursdays
