The Vaults in Shrewsbury was the destination for one of the last shows in the Red Stripe Music Award series. This funky bar situated in the heart of the town was packed full of music loving red stripe drinkers, who stayed right till the very end of the night to support their local bands. The bar covered in film and music posters really looked like a venue fit for local grassroots bands to perform as best they could.

Run Fast Turn Left were one of the first metal bands that I have heard take part in this series. With heart pounding riffs and loud brute screamo choruses, this band wowed their following and nearly tore the roof off the building.

Fiasco Brass took to the stage next with some good ol’ fashioned indie pop which was carried by some unbelievable bass playing.
It was good to hear some varied music over the night because next was the Monotones, who incidentally do not live up to their name. Bringing influences from the Cat Empire and Madness I have never heard such a noise. The small venue, now packed to hear this incredible ska band, formed of 7 members blurted great fun dancing tunes with a selection of trumpets, sax, guitars and keys. Feet are still tapping!

The courtyard and roof garden, with views of the castle, complement the historis setting and provide a relaxing place to have a drink with friends. We also have a large bar area, with a stage for musicians and Dj's.
